OpenSourceHunter is an independent directory of open source projects and a library of practical resources for people who build things on the web.
Start with a problem, find a promising tool, and follow its GitHub link. We keep the directory small enough to browse and add context that helps you decide what to investigate next.
How we choose projects
- A public source repository and an identifiable open source license for the listed core.
- A clear use case and a useful alternative to a familiar workflow.
- Documentation and a path to installing or using the software.
- Enough context to explain a limitation as well as a benefit.
“Alternative to” means a similar use case, not identical features. Some projects sell hosting or enterprise features. Check the repository's current license and documentation before adopting a tool. Repository metadata was checked on September 25, 2026; this directory is a dated selection, not a live popularity ranking.
A second life for useful resources
OpenSourceHunter originally linked to design assets, JavaScript tutorials, and open source tools. This edition keeps known article addresses and revisits those subjects with newly written content. These pages are new editorial guides, not verbatim copies of the historical articles.
Where the original download cannot be recovered, we say so. Current alternatives and original replacement resources are clearly identified. We don't claim that an unavailable icon pack or tutorial has been recovered.
Simple by choice
You can browse without an account. Project links go directly to their repositories; we do not use affiliate redirects. There is no analytics script or newsletter form in this edition. Theme preference is saved in your browser. Fonts are requested from Google Fonts; choosing an outgoing link takes you to the relevant third-party service.
